Tor-Na-Coille Hotel & Restaurant
Tor Na Coille is a 4 star, family-owned & run Victorian Country House Hotel, located at the western edge of the town of Banchory, on picturesque Royal Deeside. Set in acres of wooded grounds, this magnificent granite building enjoys an elevated position with panoramic views over the surrounding hillside.
The 25 individually styled en-suite bedrooms each have their own character and distinct charm. Enhanced by the period furniture and unique room shapes, the majority of them enjoy views of the grounds and surrounding countryside. Each Classic, Deluxe and Master room offers something that makes it unique, whether it’s the four poster, sleigh bed, rolltop bath, spectacular fireplace, or just the sheer size.
In March 2017, Brothers-in-law David Littlewood and Nigel Hake together with their wives, Sophie and Helen, bought the hotel to operate alongside their existing successful business on Donside, Kildrummy Inn. In 2013 David Littlewood won the award for Best Intermediate Dish in the Scottish Chef of the Year competition and was crowned the overall winner with a gold medal. In 2017, he became the President of The Federation of Chefs Scotland and will be instrumental in the growth of the organisation over the next few years.
Colin Lyall, Scottish Chef of the Year 2017 Finalist, Bronze Medalist, has been at the Tor Na Coille for four years as Head Chef, and is relishing the creative partnership with David.
Both David and Colin believe in using fresh and seasonal produce bought from local suppliers so you will find the menu at Tor Na Coille will change on a very regular, sometimes daily, basis to keep you going back time and time again and ensuring that every dish has the very best in terms of taste and provenance.
The Hotel is well used to hosting events of all types so please come for a look around and further information if you would like to know more about what we have to offer.
We hope to welcome you soon to ‘our hidden gem’ that is Tor-Na-Coille.
